In The Beginning
April 25, 2012 Thursday
I've been working furiously to get ready to go on my first long-haul road trip with my Little Guy and my Bear. We're heading out to Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday morning. But first things first...
This is how I made my introductions to the Little Guy Teardrop trailer forum:
"I picked up my Little Guy 5-wide Friday! I saw a documentary on television 3 years ago or so on teardrop trailers, I've been fascinated ever since! This forum has been very helpful in determining the first items to purchase and "to do" and so based on my first day:
Replaced all battery-powered lights with LED
An adapter plug for the extension cord so I can charge my battery in my garage.
My unit has a radio/dvd/tv and came with a 12v inverter to plug that in, it only has one plug so I'll probably purchase another one for charging other small items like cell phones etc.
Digital battery meter. Upgraded to a sealed deep cycle battery which the dealership put in the same spot as the small one was. Didn't know that was possible, but glad it was.
120 w Zamp solar panels. I wasn't sure that this wattage was completely necessary; its the panel they had in stock. i am pretty sure we'll never...ever run out of juice! Next to purchasing the LG I'm probably geeking out about these solar panels the most. Don't like to spend much time in campgrounds so solar panels were a must for me.
A heavy duty blanket I purchased from Costco in the pet area, for Bear to sleep on.
Do y'all use regular queen size sheets or something else?
I'm looking forward to adventuring in my little teardrop and am so glad this forum is here, it's been very helpful. I'll be teardrop trippin' with my sweetheart and my red heeler dog, Bear. Sure hope we can all snuggle into our little 5wide without too much fighting over the covers. No matter what, it will be an adventure!!
P.S. didn't even leave the parking lot at the dealership without giving some folks with a big RV a tour of our Little Guy."
I paid it off my little guy at Access RV in Salt Lake on April 1, and picked it up on the 5th. The next weekend we took our maiden voyage to Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville, Utah. Em's sister got to come up from college and joined us. I can't hardly believe it but we all slept in our little guy (Including the Bear) quite comfortably. The fantastic fan did an awesome job of drowning out the sound of all of the Boy Scouts that we were completely surrounded by. I set up my REI Shade
M is going to Puerto Rico with her dad to Scuba dive and Disney world right after that. With my brain the way it is, it didn't sound like any fun to go to Disney World with the family. So Instead I started planning a trip to Arizona! My Jessica and Miranda friends are both there and I can't hardly wait to squeeze them both. I didn't know when I started planning I was going to have my little Teardrop, but it turns out that there is a Little Guy Teardrop Rally in Cottonwood Arizona at Dead Horse Ranch State Park during the first weekend I'm going to be there. So I scheduled to be there Friday through Sunday morning.
So I'm packing up, got an oil change yesterday the A/C charged and cleaning the car today and this afternoon I'll finish packing and be rip roaring and ready to go!
Here's a pic of the day I picked her up :) Precious isn't she?!
